Morning my name is Chalkie.

Our manifesto, homo sapiens to homo digital examines our concerns with the changes bought about by our technological advancement and the introduction of the digital world into our lives.

I like the idea that before and in our future man has found guidance within spiritual teachings about how to achieve a spiritual balance dealing with the unknown.

He has embraced change and searched for harmony.

Therefore I would like to try and find solutions that effectively address our concerns both spiritually and practically.

I apologize if my clumsy appropriation of the yin yang symbol feels wrong, I would like to find a more appropriate way of expressing a search for balance but it worked so well on the laser cutter it felt right and I’m still struggling with finding a way to solve my dilemma of miss appropriation. Probably I need to see how many other spiritual base ethos fit and gather them together so it correctly sees as an inspirational thought, not a statement.

I do think technological advancement is something that needs to be examined from a moral and spiritual perspective, as well as from a legislative angle. To exclude any wold be wrong.

Part of the point I think I am interested in is the internet does seem to have become a world or a utopia that one can lose one’s true identity in. In many ways like a religion, sect or tribe.

You have the gods Google, Apple, Microsoft and chrome. Any alien landing on our earth would be forgiven for wondering how these entities or families had been allowed to gain so much power so globally.

My own experience has seen the computers go from the size of a small house at school to something you could hold in your hand.

I sat and watched some six formers building a room-sized calculating machine and later after school I learnt Basic and programed a few things then Unix arrived, companies bought satellites and communicated globally on their own networks.

Children are born with their mothers hooked up to monitors. my own birthing delivery drugs we’re delivered by a very nice machine without a starched apron or an opinion.

My children have all had to be ”unplugged” at some point or another and my late uncle Father David said that he was troubled by how addictive his computer was and advised his parishioners to write letters and make phone calls where possible.

In an article published by the Guardian this week, they have cited research that has shown it is the sleep deprivation that is causing the trouble amongst the population not the other use of our electric gadgets.

I think they are right.

Unplug, make a cup of tea and get a good book out you’ll nod off in a jiffy.

NB

Building of the wren churches to quel the weavers. C17?

The gladiatorial games to curry favour with the mob.

No matter what happens sleeping eating and the company all have to be observed if we want to live healthy productive lives.

Comic sans easier for dyslexics read.

Colourful points.
Pray.

Find pictures maybe not the one hooked up to the epidural- keep a mystery-little nod to Greg, both for his remark on childbirth and his request for mystery.
