They felt appropriate. A bit of nostalgia.

This is the sound, This is the sound of the suburbs.
Songwriters: Carroll Lightowers
Listening to my city is something I love. I’ve left many times but I’ve always returned.
It has always been like coming home.
I’ve seen bombs, unrest, riots, Sit-ins, celebrations, the sunset and the sunrise, changes. London city survives and grows to accommodate her often ungrateful brood.
We set out for an hour around the white city estate, recording equipment in hand, and scribbled instructions.

Forty years on, not on a Sunday, all things comfortingly seem much the same. We saw car hovering and quickly recorded it. Lunch was being prepared. We squeezed the gates of the playground and listened to music drifting over the breeze.
I think that was why The Members song worked so well, it was every teen’s grumble you didn’t have to be in the suburbs to be frustrated with everyday life.
