Week 23:Statement of Intent (SOI).

I enjoyed the launch, I like the start of the projects and I am going to stick to my guns this project.

I know some people feel confused and uncomfortable with the way I work. It feels messy and confused but I like the freedom to discard things as I go along and find the focus though the process.

I do need to track this and file away research I discard. I have found the computers invaluable for this and I have every thing in Files and notes with Albums for the images.

I collected alot of information in Project 4 – Investigate in carefully chosen places in random ways -as I said I would. On my camera with notes and sketches. In my silent crit in week 22 I edited my body of research down to 3 main collectionsof photos, pictures and samples. After a couple of Crits with Bengi I re edited my collection of Photos arranging then in to threes and fours in 4 main groups and left up my fast painting of my the moon jar. Everything else I took down and put away. I wanted to see what the reaction was to each of these sections

I was pleased with the feed back I got. Especially from Bengi, who imediatly spotted the elivation of the everyday objects. He was pushing for “Fine Art” to be more critical in their comments and statements which was fine by me as I did want to see if they could track my processes or pick up my themes. They picked up on the Blue and Yellow and mentioned the lemon, its iteresting how that sticks, I had taken down all images of lemons but it was still there for those who knew it. Those who didnt like the quest found the quanity of work I put up irritating and objected to having to work out what was going on. Im not sure they are ever going to find the way I work easy but i need to give them a way to consider what i do. I dont mind and I resigned to the fact we cant always connect easily although those who do like to look and sleuth where having to work rather too hard.

I do need to seperate out my themes in a more considered way or reach a point where I have one theme although that may be the finished piece.

I still need to address the comment about the moon jars new found contemporary status, it has most certainly “become”. No longer an artisan object, now a highly collectable and revered Artifact, placed center stage, elevated to a status symbol.

PROJECT 5: REALISE – Statement of Intent (SOI)

The following is a guide to help you outline and plan your proposed project. A Statement of Intent (SOI) is a ‘working document’ that should be amended as your ideas evolve during a project.
