Week 27: Research how to find what you are looking for, method and application.

Gene and Sandy are anomalies in the world of search and rescue. They pursue this work full-time, but they work for free, only charging travel expenses. They take a scientist’s methodical approach to everything they do. Gene even has a system when it comes to remembering his wedding anniversary, which is on 26 August. “My birthday is the 16th, Sandy’s birthday is the 29th, so there are 13 days in between those two dates, and the same month of April, which is four, the fourth month, so there’s two of us, two times four is eight and that is the eighth month and two times 13 is 26, the day,” he said.

I like solutions. This article caught my eye and I wondered how they found what they were looking for.

The human element is sad but as the journalist reveals this is a problem in the US and they are doing good work.

The unknown and unsolved are the subjects of speculation, I like to join the circle and square the cube I enjoy the process. It is satisfying and

Reading this article I realise that my interest in philosophy, science, and maths makes my work less openeded- ultimately they prove rather than investigate, they closes down possibilities which in gean and sandy case brings closure or allowed justice to start it’s process. Gean and Sally are driven by their process their equipment defines the method. Although they talk about how the difference between a murder victim and the unrestrained changes their operating method.

Both Mark Bradfors and Antonio Tapies investigate using materials and equipment that help convey their message, they leave the object of their message for their audience to find. They expect their work to raise questions. Mark Bradford makes a surface, that is how he knows when to stop. Tapies process is more of a balancing act one excavated the other builds. The synergy they both find between their process and materials creates an arrangement of natural everyday materials that rest in front of us, emitting, suspended, captured like a film ”still.”

I need to investigate, evidence and not jump to dictate solutions, I should allow the audience to find their own way.
