Week 28:What changes our mood makes us think positively.

I’ve been listening and reading Richard Noble’s collected essays on Utopia.

I want to find ways of producing “art” that creates positive reactions/elevates everyday things.

I know food is a good way to feed the body. Good food leaves us with memories that we revisit.

That would be taste.

Smells, sounds, Vision and touch do the same …some good some bad.

So what is the best way to to leave the audience feeling positive. Do I need a subject or can I dodge it by concentrating on the colour and texture …possibly smell?

I asked my teenage daughters- all moody- they agreed smell can really change their moods for good and bad, mainly by distraction- although there may be a lingering revisitation and reminder when an image is attached. Eg. Coffee, bread baking, honey, perfume, freshly cut grass. Although they reminded me they can evoke sadness too it would be down to personal experance.

That would be a synergistic reaction.

The girls agreed colour was a strong mood changer they unsurprisingly like me they love blue and yellow, it inspires them.

They all have objects they carry around just because of the texture. I was careful and minded the midwives tales when they were growing up-

When you require your child to become more independent pick sensible things for them to latch on to for security. Nothing too rare or you will be in trouble if they break or loose it. These objects take on magical powers and the ability to provide comfort, when lost they panic.

I wonder if we have a built in default library.

Jung or freud, Nature or nurture?

I know babies learn while in the womb.

On the occasion that I needed the back up of a spare pair of hands I could always rely on the fact my babies would happily sit with a blood relative. No question it certainly had nothing to do with their experance or abilities. Most strange, I put it down to smell.

I wonder if I can find something that moves across the frontiers of culture age or orientation.

We all start the same way. we all have to breathe, eat and sleep.

My daughter suggested something fury , I may sleep on that.
