Brue Mclene – What are your thoughts on Creativity as a healing process?

If you look at something fabulous it makes you feel better. If you look at something terrible it can make you feel crap. Perhaps not physically but definitely emotionally. Hospitals can evoke awe and lift spirits by having more beautiful and energetic things around. As simple as when something looks great it makes you feel great if something looks shit it makes you feel like that, really.

That made my morning and reminded me of Antoni Tàpies wanting to make paintings so evocative that they would work like medicine.

I met up with a friend and we wondered around some galleries. I picked some photos I found evocative. I didn’t need the whole painting just a snippet.

A Focus On Painting – GALERIE THADDAEUS ROPAC

This September, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac is delighted to be showing A Focus on Painting, curated by Julia Peyton-Jones, the gallery’s Senior Global Director: Special Projects. The exhibition will feature four artists from different generations and at different points in their careers: Alvaro Barrington, Mandy El-Sayegh, Rachel Jones and Dona Nelson.
