Sunday 18th April 2021.
It has been a productive week screen printing in the studio, bringing my past forward and moving on in to the future. Editing my thoughts and references to try and find a way though to some sort of resolution. I have had the ‘I’m giving up’,’its hopeless’, and many OMG moments, its been a roller coster.

Sprit painting and tree are lurking, haunting me, but I think I am ready to put the lid on them and move on. Are they finished.? I never really know, while I think of them they are active, now independent, my question is are they attractive enough to lure to hook and then be readable. Do they leave a residue?
My tryptics are now in three sets- although they are now now they technically Battenbergs (4’s) with the introduction of “place”.
This has introduced an element of identity with a place to each of the collections.
Each collection now has spawned “tile’ paintings in addition to their original mother painting.
My original ‘three’ have changed in context with the placement of presentation,or context.
I have been looking at Libraries, magazines, workshops, schools, films and considering the simple shelf, box or jar as ways of realising their potential.
‘Tree’ my talisman, my motif for home, hearth, and continuum – Family lore.
‘The Gap’ (other) that unknown, curious, moment when your instincts raise questions.
The ‘Sprit painting’ when we turn to nature to look for answers.
